Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous

Another MTV Casualty: Zach Stone's Quest For Fame Was Too Short Lived
NOTE: I'm disappointed that this is only being released in a DVD-on-demand format. That means it is only burned when someone orders it and generally has no additional features or closed captioning. It could really find a cult audience if it got a traditional DVD/Blu-ray release.

I have to give credit to the MTV network. I was really skeptical a few years ago when they announced plans to expand in their scripted series endeavors. In the process of developing new shows, they created two big crossover successes with "Teen Wolf" and "Awkward." Executives at MTV must have seen the potential in these shows. They were promoted and supported, and both are still growing in the ratings. But for these hits, there have been far more casualties: Shows that were largely ignored, didn't have a super advertising campaign, didn't get multiple airings throughout the week, and were quietly canceled after one season. Last year, two of my favorite shows were MTV cast-offs, "I Just Want...
One of the funniest shows of the year
I absolutely loved this show, it was well written and performed and was extremely funny. A single camera comedy in the vein of The Office and Parks and Recreation that would have done much better had it been on a different network. MTV was not the right place for it among Jersey Shore and 16 and Pregnant or whatever the show is called. I will be purchasing the DVD and can't wait to watch the episodes again. Bo Burnham, the creator, writer and star, is a hot commodity among young comedians and I hope he gets a deal more suited to his talents.
Amazing
This is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Not only is it absolutely hilarious, it is a smart commentary on youth. Everybody has had experiences like Zach Stone, even if they weren't to the degree that he deals with. It is a rare show where you actually feel like personal aspects of the show in a realistic fashion. This is the best show MTV has ever put on the air. An intellectual masterpiece that doesn't normally come around, this is definitely a show to check out.
