Broken

Harrowing psychological family drama, a MUST SEE
I am a big fan of the on-going Film Movement DVD library of foreign and indie movies. This is the January, 2013 release in the Film Movement DVD of the Month Club, and will be released to the public at large in the months to come.

"Broken" (2012 release from the UK; 91 min.) brings the story of an 11 yr. old diabetic girl nicknamed Skunk (played by Eloise Laurence), who lives on a cul-de-sac in a very much middle-class neighborhood in Britain. At the beginning of the movie Skunk sees Rick, a young man living across the street, getting violently beaten up by yet another neighbor, Mr. Oswald. We later learn that one of Oswald's daughters, in order to save face, told her dad that Rick raped her, following which Oswalt in a rage pummels Rick. We meet other charachters like Skunk's immediately family (her dad is played by Tom Roth), and also Mike, the teacher and boyfriend of Skunk's live-in au-pair. Given the plot-heavy nature of the movie, to tell you much more would flat-out...
Broken.
A fine independent movie. Touches the heart , especially for anyone with mental or developmental disabilities. A movie about different perceptions , emotional loss anger and ultimately forgiveness and love.
The Movie Was Real
I felt like this movie was a true story at moments because the characters lives seem so real, the gut wrenching pain and happiness that can collide together when trying to find your place in the world.

Madonna: The MDNA Tour

Do NOT buy Blu-ray version! It is defective!!!
This is scandalous!!!!!!!!! How something like this can be released!? Issues:
Audio (in 5.1 setting): There is no sound from rear right speaker and the sound from the front right one is also very low. Sound is in general of very poor quality, no bass (no LFE), tons of echo!!!
Video: This is unwatchable! My iPhone takes better videos during the concerts. It is unbearably grainy! I even played her Sticky and Sweet blu-ray for comparison and the quality of that one was soooo much better. How could they release something like this???
I requested my money back and I will wait until they re-issue the proper recording!

P.S. I can see now (http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=220574&page=11) that this is an issue already reported in Europe (earlier release date). People complain about audio and video. It looks like the DVD version is correct, even the picture quality surpasses the blu-ray, which only points out that there is a problem with blu-ray pressing.
my Bluray version is a bust
I read one review warning about the Bluray of the show being of very poor picture quality. Mine is terrible. It looks like a bad cellphone recording. I heard the DVD isn't like this so I am gonna try that route.

I love the show. The editing is fine. I'd rather see the show as it was performed without the restructuring of editing, but that isn't the way it is done.

The sound on my Bluray is also not in complete stereo.

I am returning the Bluray and trying the DVD. I think the many positive reviews of the Bluray were written before those folks saw it. It was only released today. They are giving positive reviews to the awesomeness of the show and Madonna. I agree the show is awesome and so is my girl; but this product is a disaster. At least my copy and apparently others.

UPDATE: 9/12/13 I have the DVD now. It is of much better picture quality than the Bluray; but it is still not good video. I don't know if it is the way it was filmed or the...

Sean Connery 007 Ultimate Edition: Vol. 2 [Blu-ray]

BIG BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!
This compilation is an excellent value for the money. With the purchase of both volumes you get all six of the Sean Connery Bond films (the best in my humble opinion). Each film comes with another disc of bonus material such as documentaries, trailers, interviews, etc. If this wasn't enough, each film features commentary tracks as well. Each film is remastered and the picture quality is extraordinary and very impressive especially when played on a blu-ray player and hdtv. If, like me, Connery is your favorite Bond and you've been looking for a set of his movies at a great price along with all this bonus material; then look no further.
The names Bond, James Bond
As a kid growing up I always looked forward to the marathon weekends featuring 007. To me Sean Connery and James Bond are synonomis with one another. I thought about purcahsing the entire Bond collection, but when you get right down to it, Sean Connery's movies are simply the best. There are six discs total including an extra feature disc for each movie. I guess the extra stuff is cool to a point, but it generally doesn't make a difference to me if it's included or not.

As for the discs themselves.....Volume two contains Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and my personal favorite Diamonds are Forever. The video and audio digital remaster of these movies is really well done in 5.1 dts. Watching on Blue Ray only enhances the quality. If you're a bond fan you will want these for your collection.
3 disc versus 6 disc!
I bought vol 1 AND 2 each the 3 disc version of the set. The 3 disc version is the movies themselves, it does not include the special features discs that accompany each film with the 6 disc version. This was great for me because I only wanted the movies and didn't really care for the extras and they're cheaper. Hope this clears up confusion as to what is included. Each disc does have some kind of commentary which I haven't explored. Great Bond movies!
