Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - The Fourteenth Year

Two of the Best Episodes of the Entire Series are in Season 14
Y'all know me. I love Law & Order more than my luggage, especially the Lennie Briscoe Years. And I've been an avid fan of SVU since the very first episode aired. After 14 Seasons, I'm still hooked. (Besides, Ice T looks and speaks just like my older brother, which makes me almost all sentimental.)

Law & Order: SVU may be the last of the Law & Order franchise standing, but it's definitely not the least. The writers are pushing envelopes that are uncomfortable and scary, and the effect is thought-provoking. Season 14 gives us two of the stand-out episodes of the entire *series* -- "Monster's Legacy" and "Born Psychopath." I'd buy the entire season on DVD for just these two episodes; but there's so much more, including.... Wait for it... Drum roll, please...The Return of Criminal Intent's Detective Eames. Oh, yeah.

SVU has always been a personality-driven series, but this year, we finally see "behind the curtain" and into the character's private worlds in-depth...
Enter Barba
Previously on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; A dead hooker was found in a penthouse, an old face returns and a dead hooker ends up in Captain Cragen's bed. What follows is a two-part episode conclusion and the best season opener since season 2. Raul Esparza has a recurring role as ADA Barba. The most gutsy ADA since Micheal Cutter. Also there are familiar faces that show up. Some that haven't been on for a while like Detective Cassidy and Dr. Olivet. And one familiar face from the Law & Order universe shows up for the first time on SVU. Katherine Erbe makes a guest appearance as Alex Eames who is now a Lieutenant in charge of an Anti-Terrorist Task Force. It is something a true Law & Order fan has been waiting for since Criminal Intent's debut. Some form of an SVU/CI crossover. The real-life stories that influenced the episodes were some of the biggest and tragic events that took place over this past year. Season 14 is a great season whether or not you're a fan Law & Order, SVU,...
Worth It!!!
This season started and ended great. You are left screaming at the end of the season anticipating the start of Season 15

Grimm: Season Two

There better be a third season
Season two has more than met expectations, and the writers tweaked our noses a bit when the first half of the second season ended by stating on screen: TO BE CONTINUED, and then below those words: SORRY. So the second half looks like a kicker and the characters are becoming more intertwined and more team oriented. The bond between Nick and Monroe continues to strengthen. Particularly touching is when Monroe takes Nick in after Nick leaves the house he shares with Juliette. It's phenomenal, and heightens the greatest paradox on the show: a "Grimm" and a "Wessen" teaming up with total trust in one another. These two characters, and indeed the actors, have unbelievable chemistry between them. If you try to imagine casting two other actors in these roles, it's impossible.

Season two does not fail to entertain nor decrease nail biting in the least. Even I am poised on the edge of my seat wondering where all the plot lines will go. It's among the top three programs I've ever...
GRIMM AND GETTING GRIMMER
Grimm is one of the best shows I've watched in the last 61 years. Really!

The makers of this show have given us something very different and tremendously entertaining right from Season 1,episode 1 to Quills, the third show of this second season. The premise, that the Grimms have been after these creatures (that we all thought were imaginary) for centuries, is terrific and they have peopled the show with a fascinating main cast with really fine actors.

How great to have an entire group of people(?) that you can engage with and wonder about; their lives, backgrounds and loyalties. The Chief-of-Police is fascinating and mysterious. I am fond of Monroe, the big, bad wolf, or Blutbad, but have enjoyed the entire panoply of wonderful fairy-tale creatures.

I highly recommend that, if you're not already watching, you tune in and watch, and (like me) buy it; you'll want to watch these shows again.

Hate the new intro, love the second season
The new intro is like a bad version of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer intro about being "the chosen one." Other than that, the new season is STELLAR. I'm afraid I'll have a heart attack with every show. It's scary, it's awesome. You love the characters: Nick! Munroe! And Hank is going to be a revelation this season. The Juliet storyline (seriously, is her name supposed to point to star-crossed lovers?) is heart-breaking because Nick is such a lovable (and kick ass) character. This season, you can see that Nick OWNS being a Grimm like he never has before. It's amazing how he can balance being this clean-cut, good guy hero and at the same time be so fierce in battle.

Bates Motel: Season One

Yep, it IS Creepy but It IS Great Storytelling UPDATED
Well after actually watching the first 3 episodes I can safely say that this is a truly creepy show :) The story seems good, the actors are almost perfect for their parts and Norman is slowly becoming the guy we all know and love (creepy!).

I think this show is going to make it if the writers don't get cold feet and start making it politically correct and less violent since this is about a person who will become a murdering psycho (ignoring the fact it is set in the present day rather than in the past) so we EXPECT him to do evil things sooner or later and his Mom's level of affection is plain uncomfortable (I did not want to overuse the word creepy again but she makes my skin crawl a bit)

This is MUCh more than a story about Norman getting older and stabbing a girl in the shower, this is a whole new series based on the premise of the motion picture but since it is set in the present day obviously it is not the same story exactly :) This is good...
Intense
Bates motel is promising I like it, it has a lot of suspense, I am already hook to it. The show focuses on the relationship between Norman Bates and his living mother, Norma. Norman is played by Freddie Highmore who starred in the 2005 movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," and Norma is played by Vera Farmiga,'Bates Motel, examines Norman Bates' upbringing and the events that will ultimately mold him into a cross-dressing murderer with dual personalities."
Bates Motel Season 1 -- Thank goodness there will be a Season 2 !
I was born after Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho" hit the theaters, so I missed all the hype and promotional gimmicks, such as "No one will be admitted to the theater after the film has begun" and "Don't give away the ending" and the dramatic and traumatic trailers. When I saw the film for the first time, I had no idea that Janet Leigh was a huge star and how it was a Hollywood no-no to kill off the major star during the first reel. However, I did know the big revelation at the end before I saw the picture.

Still, the movie was spell-binding. The photography, the movement of the camera, the lighting, and especially the use of shadows gave the film a very creepy atmosphere of inescapable isolation. Combining that with subtle sound effects and a hair-raising score, the film became the perfect setting in which to tell a bone-chilling story using interesting characters. All that was needed was a great script and great actors to play the characters.

Based on the novel...

Psych: The Complete Seventh Season

Psych -- A Super Fantastic Show!
Psych has about four million viewers each week on the USA network. For some reason, however, the program hasn't become the cultural institution it deserves to be, especially amongst young people. I suspect that in time this will all be amended: when the wheat is separated from the chaff, Psych will always come out on top.

The narrative format of Psych is conventional, and the production design is generic. Even so, every week Franks, Roday, et al., manage to draw water from a stone with an incredible cast, a quick humor, and a bright sincerity. Within a comedy television landscape dominated by irony, sarcasm, banality, sadism, and satire -- Psych goes to show that it is still humor which effects the most authentic laughter of all.

The rapport between Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his Watson, the "super-sniffer" Burton Guster (Dulé Hill), is without precedent in television: I defy anyone to name a comedic duo with better chemistry. Roday's timing is...
Psych is one of my fav shows, this season is weird
I think they have new writers or something. This season seems all over the board. They seem to move a little quicker and in a less coherent manner. I have been a fan for years and will keep watching, but I hope they bring back the old style.
Season 7 Takes a Turn for the Worse
Thus far, Season 7 has taken a turn for the worse. As a pretty big fan of the first 6 seasons (and as someone who also happens to live in Santa Barbara County), my wife and I have been very disappointed with Season 7 for several reasons thus far...here's why:

#1 - A constant stream of sexual innuendo. It seems like the writers are running out of fresh ideas and so have resorted to a radical and very noticeable increase in cheap, unfunny innuendo. Sean and Gus have gone from cute and amusingly immature to vulgar and crudely immature. Please, get back to the Sean and Gus we enjoy so much. Also, Sean and Jules moving in together is not romantic. I know this is considered acceptable in today's world, but it's frankly, offensive to others.

#2 - Sean has always been immature, like a grown up kid, who often handles difficult situations with a charming, but awkward childishness - with wit and odd humor, but he is becoming, quite honestly, more of a jerk. The charm...

The Six Million Dollar Man: Season Four

THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN: SEASON FOUR - OCTOBER 8, 2013
This is another fun season ('76/'77) of the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN as Lee Majors sports a pencil thin David Niven style mustache that at the time was met with some ambivalence among fans and viewing audiences as it was thought to detract from his character and was subsequently removed towards the end of the season. Season four sees an excellent crossover three part episode with the Bionic Woman called "Kill Oscar" along with the entertaining and 'campy' crossover "The Return Of Bigfoot".

I bought the complete series from Time/Life and am greatful that the individual seasons are being released in a timely/measured pace for consumers who find it more economically feasible to purchase one at a time. These individual releases are the same ones that were released by Universal through Time/Life where picture quality is concerned, however, will NOT contained the bonus feature disc. Where picture quality is concerned, fans will not be disappointed.

This season enjoyed a...
This is one great fun TV show... Hope the put SDH/Closed Caaption on it.
The Six Million Dollar Man is a great Fun TV show. And well worth getting on DVD. This was when TV was worth watching..
I hope they put SDH/Closed Caption on it as they did on seasons 1-3.. Looking to get season Four.
The don't make great shows like this any more.
Nor do they make great stars like Lee Majors. Most shows you liked as a child really stink when you view them years later through adult eyes but this show is every bit as good.

Defiance: Season One

The Frontier at the Ends of Civilization
When Nolan, the jaded scavenging veteran at the heart of the new Syfy series Defiance, strides from the Lawkeeper's office early in the pilot episode, seasoned viewers will recognize the streetscape. With storefronts built of reclaimed materials and stacked cargo compartments, it distinctly resembles the Eavesdown Docks from Joss Whedon's Firefly. And for good reason, since both shows shows channel the same American frontier mythology.

Frederick Jackson Turner's seminal 1893 essay, "The Significance of the Frontier in American History," identified the idea of frontier as the defining trait of American society. Crossing the invisible line from society to wilderness allows individuals to shrug off confining Euro-American stipulations of hierarchy, subjection, religion, and money. But Turner lamented that the closing of the American frontier, according to the 1890 census, marked the end of American pioneer fervor.

Firefly, like Star Trek before that, rejects that...
Well Written, Well Executed SciFi
My husband and I really enjoyed the pilot episode. It was far better than so many recent entries in the genre. We hope our support will keep it on air if (as we hope) the writing and execution continue to hold up to the high standards set in the opener.
Definite Potential
For some reason the first episode was released early, but for those watching now or watching on the 15th, the show has great potential. Its not perfect, and the first episode has its slow parts, but overall it was enjoyable to watch, especially as you get to the battle near the end. This is the first time a game and tv showed have been tied together like this, and as a player of the game I really want to see Defiance end up successful for everyone involved. We need more companies, and people, willing to try new things and I hope future episodes continue to improve as the story expands and the cast gets used to working together. The cast itself is pretty solid overall with a few well known names involved. Jaime Murray (Spartacus/Warehouse 13) and Julie Benz (Buffy) being two of my favorites. Farscape fans will also notice one of the people behind Defiance is the creator of Farscape, Rockne S. O'Bannon. We need more good sci-fi shows out there and so far Defiance looks like it could be...

Ghost Hunters International: The Final Season

Great study of the what lies beyone - with great style!
I like GHI because it is an honest approach at finding the truth: is there life after death? And what, exactly are all these spirits? Why do they stay in certain places? Why are some of them malevolent, and some almost "friendly." I also like the characters. They are dedicated to finding the truth and very human, which really comes across. The only thing I don't like about GHI is why some of the the team members mysteriously disappear from the episodes, with no explanation. Production staff: if you are going to take us behind the scenes and give us a true reality-based approach to what is really going before-during-and after production, which is a big part of the draw, I think; then why not share with us what is really going on: what are the team members thinking? And how do they feel about their work and each other? Robb comes to mind. I liked him. No tatoos or funky hair styles. Just an honest guy that made the show that much more believable to me. But then he just...
No more debunking... Just sensationalist & dishonest rubbish.
Two incidents in this episode really exposed the shoddy nature of these investigations. Both take place during the reveal.

The first was the description by Barry to the clients of an incident in which Susan felt something grabbing at her right leg (first above & then below the back of her knee). In relating the story Barry misleads the clients when he states that the incident occurred "seconds" after they claim to have heard a disembodied, growling noise. However, the noise they heard was deep inside a cave they were exploring. Whereas Susan felt the grabbing at her leg whilst they were walking through the woods back to the plantation thus making the time lapse AT LEAST a matter of minutes, not seconds. Whilst technically (semantically) EVERY event happens a certain number of "seconds" after other events. But when the actual measurement of time is closer to 4 or 5 minutes at the very least it renders Barry's description of "seconds" as both hyperbolic and misleading...
Love this show
I watched the first two seasons of GHI on Netflix so I decided to buy the third season. I haven't watched all of the episodes yet, but so far I have liked most of the episodes I have seen. Of course some are creepier than others, but overall I like how the GHI team interacts with each other and it makes the episodes fun to watch.
