Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 5 [Blu-ray]

STNG Season Five - On cruise control!
Season five in so many ways, is just an absolutely incredible season that is packed with stunning, thought provoking episodes. As one watched these shows aired for the first time or is working their way through the DVD's, the quality of the writing and the actors comfort with their characters just becomes better and better by the episode. The shows popularity is at an all time high during this season. This is evidenced by the high quality of the scripts and shows that deal with so many issues brilliantly. The one true oddity about the season is the lack of a "Q" episode due to the lack of a good script for the character. Of key interest is the fact that more and more of Hollywood's big names were inquiring about and or getting spots on the show. In my opinion, many of the series best episodes of its seven year run came from this season.
The following is a list with a synopsis of episodes that stand out among all of the great episodes of the season:
Redemption part II - The...
A Very Good Season
Redemption, Part II -- Believing the Romulans are behind a Klingon civil war, Picard involves Starfleet in the conflict. (Return of Denise Crosby as Sela formerly Tasha Yar)
Darmok -- Picard is forced into a dangerous encounter with the captain of an alien starship. (Stars Paul Winfield from Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan, The Terminator, and Cliffhanger. Also stars Ashley Judd from Heat, and High Crimes)
Ensign Ro -- The Enterprise crew becomes an unwitting pawn in a deadly conspiracy masterminded by a Starfleet admiral.
Silicon Avatar -- The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise risks all in an attempt to communicate with a destructive force known as the Crystalline Entity before a visiting scientist can destroy it.
Disaster -- Troi holds the lives of the crew in her hands when she is forced to act as captain after the Enterprise is seriously damaged by a rare, natural phenomenon.
The Game -- The fate of the Federation is in Wesley Crusher's hands when he returns to the...
Still very good, but some wasted opportunities
This season of Star Trek: The Next Generation is full of "society episodes" for example, Violations, the Masterpiece Society, the Outcast and the Cost of Living. They're all actually very good, it's the other episodes that the writers can't seem to get right this season. For a start the 2 part special "Unification" featuring Spock is long, drawn out and only has the last 5 minutes with any action. It's still good as a thriller but nothing really happens.
Jonathan Frakes continues his directing with "Cause and Effect" - the Enterprise caught in a temporal loop, leading to it's continual destruction each time. Frakes manages to film each of the 5 or 6 times it happens from a different perspective stopping it from grating. "I Borg" features the return of the Borg with the twist - a faction of them are individuals now. We didn't expect another Borg episode to take such a different stance, that's why it works. "Power Play" and "Disaster" are action packed - Die Hard - type episodes, and...

Touched By an Angel: Ninth & Final Season

TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL THE NINTH AND FINAL SEASON GETS A RELEASE DATE - NOVEMBER 19, 2013
Wow! This is the day I've been waiting for - to complete my collection of TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL. Airing for 211 episodes and nine seasons ('94-'03), Touched By An Angel was/is a wonderful family friendly series that starred Roma Downey, Della Reese (who sang the show's inspiring and melodic theme song "I Will Walk With You"), John Dye and Valerie Bertinelli. The show maintained strong scripting and acting talent that had cross generational appeal for viewing audiences from all stratosphere's of society. This same audience longed for and desired quality programming that was rich with meaning and that would contain content that could be identified with (rather than the 'minus I.Q' programming that generally left us feeling as though we'd wasted an hour of precious time) and TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL delivered on the goods! When season 4 was released to DVD in December '07 and no forthcoming releases were announced, many fans (like myself) were devastated and disappointed, thinking that we would...
Finally the Complete Series will be available!
After such a long hiatus, I was beginning to doubt we'd get the entire series. I'm so glad I was proven wrong! No other show touched me like one does! Thank you CBS and Paramount for making my favorite show available!
I think I need cooling down.
Having been warmed through our southern winter by Touched By An Angel The Eighth Season, I think I need cooling down now with this announcement of The Ninth and Final Season. Thank you so So SO much CBS Paramount and Amazon for this perfect Christmas gift. I so look forward to reliving the heartwrenching two part "Remembering Me"; "As It Is In Heaven" (featuring a compellingly beautiful performance by Lesley Ann Warren); Wynonna Judd's outstanding performance as she brings her character's storyline to a conclusion in "At The End Of The Aisle"; and the fan favourite "I Will Walk With You". Although there can never be another tv series quite like Touched By An Angel, fans who were hooked when it first went to air, PLUS, a whole new generation can now be "Touched" by the fact that the complete series is now available to enjoy for many years to come.

Burning Love: Complete First Season

Will You Accept My Hose? A Brilliant Web Comedy That Skewers Everything You Love And Hate About Reality TV
Note: "Burning Love" was a web series designed and showcased for Yahoo, so its contents were originally free to everyone. Most episodes ranged anywhere from 8-13 minutes (roughly) and the listed running time is a compilation that puts these various episodes together.

In truth, I watch too much reality television. It's a difficult genre to parody because it's already become a parody of itself! That why the web series "Burning Love" is so spot-on hilarious. Executive produced by Ben Stiller and loaded with familiar faces, this spoof of "The Bachelor" hits every note correctly and demonstrates an inherent silliness that is as outrageous as it is truthful. The show has had three real seasons so far (and two others that are mentioned in the shows but aren't so real). The second series was a take on "The Bacholorette" and the third "Bachelor Pad." "Burning Love" was the year of Mark Orlando (a perfect Ken Marino). Orlando is a studly firefighter played with a clueless charm and...

Under the Dome

Mixed Feelings
I just finished Under the Dome last month and was not aware a show was coming out. I think I would have enjoyed the pilot more if the book wasn't so fresh in my memory. King's website has a letter from the author regarding his thoughts on the show. He pretty much affirms that the book and show share only a title, some character names, and the town name. He seems to have given his approval. I like the idea that he suggests there will be an alternate ending; something that I don't think will really spoil the rest of the episodes.

However, every character seems to have gotten a major personality, role, and familial relationship overhaul. Some, like Barbie's, are hard for me to digest. Some seem unnecessary. Some seem like they have occurred because the show isn't on a cable network, where excessive darkness and gore would be more acceptable.

I have learned to believe that adaptations should not always be direct translations, but inspired by the original source. I...
Disappointed
This show Started out great, and seemed to have some potential. Then ended with a terrible finale that leaves you more angry than intrigued about having to wait for the next season to start. Very disappointing.
Moderately interesting story
I started watching this because I thought it was going to be a summer mini-series. I didn't have time to read the book, but it sounded interesting so I was excited to see that it was being made into a TV series. I must admit that I was really disappointed to hear that they have decided to stretch it out into a 2 or 3 year long show. It would have been nicer if it was just 8 - 10 episodes and then stopped. I can't imagine that it will hold my interest over several seasons.

Star Trek IX: Insurrection

Updated to reflect new 6/7/05 Special Edition
Please note: This review is for the Special Edition of "Star Trek: Insurrection" released 6/7/05 and was updated.

Most of these reviews of Insurrection damn the film with faint praise. It wasn't this, it wasn't that. The Federation wouldn't do this. There's petty squabbles about legal points, etc. Writer Michael Piller clearly uses Star Trek Insurrection, much as Roddenberry did, as a soapbox to decry the injustices visited upon others. Usually he'd use Star Trek as a analogy of what had occurred in the past or present.

The next to last installment in the "Trek" film franchise, "Star Trek: Insurrection" received a bad rap from the very beginning. Despite the fact that it was scripted by one of the series best writers (Michael Piller a producer and writer on "The Dead Zone") and directed by series vet/actor Jonathan Frakes the film was seen as disappointing as a follow up to the action driven "Star Trek: First Contact". While the film certainly lacks the intensity...
Sound over Substance.
OK, lets face it. We want to love Star Trek movies because we feel so apart of the series. And for the most part, the movies just don't hit their mark. As a movie, this one probably ranks fourth in the series behind, Kahn, IV, and First Contact. But it's certainly not a bad film, which can't be said for about half of the Star Trek movies. However, if you have a sub woofer, surround sound speakers and are buying this for your 5.1 DVD... Pull out your wallet and get it. Star Trek is perfect for DVD. The Laser Fights, the Space Battles, the hiding in caves during an alien bombing give ample opportunity to be pounded into your chairs. In DVD no one can hear you scream, simply because the movie is so darn loud. I LOVE IT. So if you're a Star Trek fan or just someone who enjoys your home theater. Pull out your wallet and have a great time. However, if you don't have 5.1 DVD with all the trimmings, buy the wrath of Kahn, or simply go buy a better movie.
Star Trek Meets Walt Disney
If you like the one about the whales, you'll probably enjoy "Star Trek: Insurrection," too. Unlike its successor, the bloated and ill-conceived "Star Trek: Nemesis," this third foray into theaters for the "TNG" crew is a competent, if not particularly riveting, adventure that often feels more like an old-fashioned Disney film than anything else. That's actually the best thing going for it, as Captain Picard and crew discover an intergalactic Shangri-La that is the focal point for a generational civil war. Comfortable as director, co-star Jonathan Frakes does what he can with a script that is frequently sweet (and sometimes needlessly violent) but like many of the modern Trek episodes, short on plot and long on technobabble. He had more success with the last film, which managed to evoke the spirit of Captain Kirk's era, but Frakes here still finds new ways to show us things we've seen a million times before, no mean feat. He's aided by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith's evocative...

Star Trek VII: Generations

A great transition!
Star Trek Generations is simply a great transition movie, handing the torch from Captain Kirk and crew to Captain Picard and crew. While not living up completely to what we the fans wanted, that doesn't really matter. That is the case in most of the movies. Especially the odd numbered ones for some strange cosmic reason. We all knew the Galaxy Class Enterprise 1701-D had to go. It was simply not made for the silver screen. I was personally hoping that more of the original series crew could've made it for the opening sequence. The scenes between Kirk and Picard were very well done. If I remember correctly, this was also the first time that we'd heard Captain Sulu's first name. Patrick Stewart once again showed the depth of his acting abilities with the death of his character's brother and nephew. It's a little disturbing to see Captain Picard basically recieve a beating from Soren. After watching Kirk fight many a people and win over the years. Malcolm McDowell, Soren...
Boldly going where ST: TOS went before
Boldly going where "Star Trek-The Original Series" had gone before, "Generations" allows us to watch the passing of the torch. The Next Generation cast took the big screen but not center stage in the first feature of this television series. The real attraction here was the death of a beloved Trek icon-Captain James T. Kirk. As the film begins Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) along with former crewmates Scotty (James Doohan) and Checkov (Walter Koenig) are along on the ride for the launch of the newly commissioned Enterprise-B. When two ships signal that they need help, the Enterprise-B, despite the fact that it hasn't been outfitted with the rudimentary defense mechanisms, is ordered to help the two troubled passenger ships. New Captain John Harriman (Alan Ruck) reluctantly zooms to their aid. With news cameras from every network on Earth covering the launch of the ship, Kirk feels compelled to step in and help the inexperienced crew save the lives on the ships in distress...
Not the best Trek film, but very underrated
As a theatrical movie, "Star Trek Generations" fails - it feels more like a long TV episode - mostly due to the re-appearance of the Duras sisters. This was, quite possibly, the worst aspect of this film. They're fun characters, but their presence, let alone villainy, is hardly on the same level as General Chang (Star Trek VI).

The commentary and special features also point out tha some dr Sorin/Geordi torture scenes were cut. This is a shame as this would have added much a needed sense of "We hate your guts" to Sorin, who is more or less a character we'd much rather give our pity to because of his plight!

Guinan is also awkwardly handled. Remember, her and the El Aurians' had escaped the Borg. Just how far were they travelling before the Federation found them, on their doorstop no less? (I'm assuming an earlier (unseen) hailing had the El Aurians told Starfleet who they were, as it makes no sense for Starfleet to otherwise know what species this is.)...

Star Trek X: Nemesis

More Special Features For This Final Collectors Edition
It was just a couple of years ago that Star Trek Nemesis, featuring the final journey of the next generation crew was released on DVD. Featuring the music of the late veteran composer Jerry Goldsmith, it tells the story of how the Enterprise-E, led by Captain Picard is invited by the Romulans to commence final peace negotiations. Unfortunately it is all a ploy by a younger clone of Captain Picard to not only cripple the Federation but exterminate Earth altogether using their new weapon. The weapon is stored aboard Shinzon's ultra-predator-battleship that carries enough photon torpedoes to take out entire fleets of starships, and a perfect cloaking device making it possible to fire in perfect invisibility- unlike the klingon ship from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country that had a flaw. Complicating circumstances is the discovery of a prototype android of the Enterprise's Lt Commander Data.

There is definitely a sense of goodbye with this film, and although Star Trek...
Good Film Despite Its Missed Potential
The problem with a franchise like Star Trek is that it has a very committed and opinionated fan base, and so these fans will tend to be overly-critical and aggressive about their feelings regarding anything new in the franchise. Star Trek has the benefit of being based in a very broad and immersive universe that is made up of a dynamic and diverse cast of characters. This is both a blessing and a curse: a blessing because in each new motion picture installment there is a lot to build from; a curse because it can be difficult to stay true to the characters and the spirit behind the universe.

When making a film from the Next Generation television series, one would be confronted with two problems: the first being that the series was at times uneven and muddled; the second being that there is a different expectation in a film than in a television show. That being said, it is the characters that made the series great, and the thing that made First Contact (Trek film #8) such a resounding...
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" goes out with a whimper
The plot of "Star Trek: Nemesis" comes down to three situations. First, and most importantly, Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) discovers that he not only has a clone (Tom Hardy) who was created by the Romulans by raised by the Remuseans, but that the enterprising Shinzon has become Praetor of the Romulan Empire, which has a weapon that can destroy all life on Earth. Second, in an obvious parallel, Data (Brent Spiner) discovers yet another of Dr. Soong's prototype androids, named B-4 (also Spiner). Third, and finally in more ways than one, Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Counselor Troi (Marina Sirtis) are finally getting married. This 10th Star Trek film, and four in the STNG part of the series, has its moments but is ultimately less than satisfying.

Part of the problem is that even before the film's climatic death scene we are already aware that we have another Star Trek death that is not really death scene. Yes, this is certainly more plausible than the first one in "Star...

Star Trek: Stardate Collection [Blu-ray]

If You Want All 10 Films, This is the Set For You
In 1966, a TV show writer/producer named Gene Roddenberry (1921-1991) had an idea for a futuristic sci-fi TV series in which humanity has united, achieved faster-than-light interstellar space travel and joined other worlds in the "United Federation of Planets". The show, known as "Star Trek", was on the air for a mere three years, but thanks in part to the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing, in syndication the show gained a huge audience and fans began to gather at "Star Trek" conventions. With so much interest growing in "Star Trek", producers at Paramount (which obtained the show from Desilu Productions) considered reviving the TV series in the late 1970's, but opted instead to produce a big-screen feature-length film.

In 1979, the first film, called "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", was produced and reunited the entire cast from the cancelled series: Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Lt. Commander/Commander Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Dr. Leonard H. 'Bones' McCoy (DeForest...
Captain's Log, Stardate 1080p HD (or, a brief review of Star Trek: The Stardate Collection)
In May 2009, Paramount released Star Trek: Original Motion Picture Collection (Star Trek I, II, III, IV, V, VI + The Captain's Summit Bonus Disc) [Blu-ray], which contained the six Original Crew 'Star Trek' films ('The Motion Picture' - 'The Undiscovered Country') in their theatrical cuts, numerous special features both old and new and a bonus disc of brand new content known as 'Star Trek: The Captains' Summit'. Later that year, in September, the same studio released Star Trek: The Next Generation Motion Picture Collection (First Contact / Generations / Insurrection / Nemesis) [Blu-ray], which contained the four 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' films ('Generations' - 'Nemesis'), with identical special features as their previous DVD editions, along with a bonus disc of varied new featurettes.

Star Trek: The Stardate Collection is...
If I could select N/A as rating I would.
In case no one has noticed this is an import from either the UK or EU. That is the reason for the "ridiculous" pricing. Also the only person that has actually purchased the box set gave it a 5 star rating. Frankly Amazon needs to sort out their reviews. Personal recommendation:

1. Separate reviews for each release. When I am buying a Blu-ray I and I am sure many others hate wading through a bunch of VHS, DVD, and previous releases to get to an honest review of the product.
2. Either eliminate the ability of persons who have not purchased the product from leaving a review or completely separate their opinion from persons who own the product.
3. Imports should be well marked. Even Region Free Discs if they are DVDs will not play unless you own a PAL to NTSC converter. And Blu-ray releases need to be marked Region A or Region ALL as a standard for sales on the US website. If you do not have region A or All they will not play obviously. And finally when...

Star Trek Into Darkness

Special features are all split up between vendor exclusive
The official Blu-ray has seven mini-featurettes. If this seems like it is a half-assed release, it's because Paramount has divvied up all the other features, including the commentary tracks with the cast and director J.J. Abrams, and several additional featurettes. The list of missing content on the U.S. wide-release Blu-ray (which is what is being sold on Amazon) includes 5 more featurettes (The Journey Continues... Again, Rebuilding the Enterprise, Full of Wrath, Kirk & Spock and Visual Preferences), plus the commentary with J.J. Abrams and the crew and a theatrical trailer. The featurettes and trailer are likely what's on the Bonus Discs at Target and Best Buy and the CinemaNow downloads (Best Buy U.S. appears to have its content via CinemaNow download while the same content is on a Bonus Disc in Canada), and the commentary is obviously with iTunes. All this means, if you buy the "normal version" here on Amazon, you're getting less than half the special features created for the...
Paramount is ripping YOU off!
I know you want to. I want to. BUT DON'T DO IT!
Don't buy this blu-ray. Paramount markers thought it would be a good idea to make retailers feel special (not amazon though) and split up all the special features, created by the filmmakers, for the fans. So no commentary (even though it exists). And only a small portion of special features.

What does this mean? If you want all the special features created for this release, you have to buy 3 different versions of the blu-ray plus the itunes version (for the director's commentary).

This is not a good practice to support. Don't let these idiots take advantage of you. While it sucks to not be able to own this sci-fi gem, look at the release calendar for paramount following this. Expect similar practices for World War Z.

The best way to show these jerks they're wrong is to not buy this movie.

Live long and prosper
BRILLIANT !!!!
OK folks first of all, this is a movie. J.J. is not trying to re-invent the wheel here. What J.J. Abrams has accomplished here is to re-imagine a burned out brand and series (that I loved as much as any true fan) and had the guts to go where no director has gone before with it. He shows his total respect for the best of the previously done films, his respect for the fans of the original films, and bravely creates a marvelous environment for the future of this series. I cannot tell you the last time I have sit in a darkened movie theater (full of fans and first timers) and had so much fun listening to the audience ooh and aah at what they were seeing and hearing from the screen. I along with them laughed, oohed, aah-ed, and even shed a tear, as this movie unfolded, and cannot remember the last time I felt so satisfied in seeing a film.

To all of the families with teens and tweens out there, Yes! this is the whole family movie experience you've been waiting for (and to...

Criminal Minds: The Eighth Season

Criminal Minds is the best, especially instantly from Amazon!
This was a great episode, I almost didn't recognize Kim Wayans or McKenzie Phillips, they were great. However I miss Emily, The new girl is good, but she's not Emily Prentiss, I love the show because they have strong women that don't have to show skin to get notice or play super cop women, they seem real. I was happy that they brought JJ back. I like agent Hotchter.
Great series!
Love this show! Been watching it since its inception! :) Would recommend to anyone to watch it! They won't be sorry
3 Stars
I have been watching Criminal Minds since its first episode and have always loved it. The quality of the show has had its ups and down- the season in which Prentiss and JJ were dismissed was one of the worst. Many fans (including myself) didn't like the new agent, Seaver, who replaced the two veteran stars. But I think this season is truly worse even than Seaver's season (season 6, I think). Why? Because of the newest team member, Agent Blake. Her character is cold, dull, and has almost no sense of humor. I can't see her really bonding with the rest of the team, and in fact, she expressed a dislike for "sensitive" people. Does that mean she doesn't like Garcia or Morgan? They both get a bit sensitive and the cases sometimes get to them emotionally. Is she saying she'd rather work with robots?

I truly hope that the show either makes some changes to Blake's character or kindly asks her leave.

And what's with the endings? Why are they always the same? What's going...

South Park: The Sixteenth Season [Blu-ray]

OMG, they killed-- oh, wait, never mind
I have watched South Park since its inception. The first two seasons were a hoot-- really, some very funny, original, and creative stuff, which was made all the better by the fact that the drawing was deliberately and self-consciously not at all slick. In later seasons-- and importantly, recent seasons, South Park has become uneven in the quality of the episodes, in terms of humor and creativity. At times, the humor and creativity and originality has been compromised for the sake of preachiness. At other times, the episodes are classics. But even at its worst, an episode of South Park will still contain a gem or two that can't be found anywhere else-- for example, in the most recent episode, where Butters sinks a cruise ship with a golf ball. That's why I continue to watch faithfully.
Still going strong
They never lose their edge.Satire stories are topical and very humorously portrayed.I look forward to the 17th season debuting this week.If want a good laugh over human absurdities this is a dvd set for you.Long Live South Park
Oh Long Johnson
"South Park" has been one of the few animated television series that seems to have only gotten better with age. Every season, the show seems to improve a bit more. The animation of the show, despite being glorified versions of their construction paper cut outs from 15 years ago, has evolved drastically over the years and now features the likes of cel shading, computer animation, and even live-action segments. The writing of the show only gets more imaginative with each season as the show continues to put a viciously comical spin on current events, celebrities, and movies. It's taken 16 seasons to finally check out the show on Blu-ray. Even if you're a massive fan of the show, the mindset is that maybe the show doesn't really require fans to watch the show in high definition. But the show looks and sounds damn good in the format.

"The Complete Sixteen Season" features all 14 episodes from season 16 in a sleek two-disc Blu-ray package (or three-discs for the DVD). While the...

World War Z (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy)

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE UNRATED CUT AND THE THEATRICAL CUT
The Unrated Cut runs about 7 minutes longer than the Theatrical Cut, and primarily contains additional action shots (nothing major). Director Marc Forster has said that the Theatrical Cut IS the Director's Cut, which also unfortunately means that we will not be seeing any footage from the discarded Battle of Moscow (except for a few quick scenes in the closing montage) and the Matthew Fox subplot.

The UNRATED Cut is the one to get! It contains slightly more gore (but not gratuitously so) than the Theatrical Cut, and the action scenes are more fluid and less choppy.

I've listed the primary differences between the Unrated Cut and the Theatrical Cut below. Note, SPOILERS follow below, so read at your own risk.

1) When zombies are shot/stabbed/curb stomped/etc.., they spew CG black blood. When people are bitten, there's more CG red blood.

2) During the opening scene in Philadelphia, there are more scenes of pandemonium and zombies getting...
This is not the book on film!
I've heard a lot of reviews written by fans of the book by Max Brooks and many of them are negative, because they were expecting to see the book made into a movie. Simply put, this is not the same story from the book, however it's still a great zombie film. In fact, it's easily one of my favorite zombie movies of all time. If you're a fan of zombies, whether you've read the book "World War Z" or not (I recommend reading it btw) you will definitely have a good time watching this film. While there's not a lot of gore as in most zombie films, the zombies are pretty creepy and there's lots of 'em and there's enough tension to keep things interesting throughout. If you're on the fence about seeing this movie, let me give you a small nudge to check it out. You won't be disappointed. Just don't expect to see the book made into a movie.
Thrilling, Intense and A Well-Made Beginning
World War Z is Brad Pitt's zombie epic about the spread of a virus that turns people into the undead, but instead of walking they sprint and create chaos with every step. Pitt plays Gerry Lane, a former UN investigator who is called into action by an old friend when the human race is on the brink of extinction. While he risks his life to look for a cure, his family (with his wife Karin played by the incredible Mireille Enos) is on a US Navy Carrier out at sea. Nations fall, people turn on each other, and it seems all is lost. But, this is not the case as Gerry begins piecing together clues and starts a search that will change everything, leading to the "war."

WWZ is a truly impressive movie, especially considering it's a PG-13 zombie movie. While I do like the gore in a zombie film, this movie proved you don't need it. The zombies were frightening, the realistic science was there, warfare is taken into account, and overall it just felt like what would really happen if the...

Vegas: The DVD Edition

Chiklis Versus Quaid: An Episodic Crime Drama That Got More Rewarding As The Season Progressed
One of the most eagerly anticipated show on CBS's 2012 lineup had to be "Vegas." An expensive period piece starring acting heavyweights Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis, the show was created by TV veteran Greg Walker and organized crime authority Nicholas Pileggi. If you aren't familiar with Pileggi, he's best known for writing the book "Wiseguy." "Wiseguy" was then adapted by Pileggi and Martin Scorcese into the Oscar nominated screenplay for "Goodfellas." In my household, it was a no-brainer. We were definitely going to check out this TV project with his name on it! The debut of "Vegas" drew good overall numbers, but then struggled to maintain interest with the younger demographic. As advertisers are primarily concerned with ratings information from the 18-49 age grouping, this ended up being a big problem for CBS and this high profile offering. "Vegas" was knocked out of its Tuesday time slot, went on a brief hiatus, and subsequently burned off original episodes on Friday...
I loved this show!!
The acting is amazing (I mean c'mon- Michael Chiklis, Dennis Quaid & Carrie-Anne Moss), the costuming was perfect & throw in some police detective type work, a few murders and Vegas in the early days, I love it. Really, really bummed it was cancelled, thought this was one of the better shows on non-cable TV. I mean people want a million seasons of the worst crap on TV but they cancel this. So disappointed! At least they ended it in such a way you can look at it like a mini-series, since they concluded the season very well without any cliffhangers. Wanted to buy the season on Blu Ray though & don't see it. Would not pay this price for reg DVDs, hoping Blu Ray shows up soon, otherwise the price would have to drop a lot for me to get this.
Vegas-2012 "Good Show"
This is a "Good Show" Starring Michael Chiklis and Dennis Quaid as Rancher Ralph Lamb, which was canceled for the usual reasons..Changing time slots and low ratings..This show was very well done..This DVD Edition is just like "The Defenders" in which it is priced too high for the times and then it will go "Out Of Print" If you are lucky when you sell this item later you will recoup about $14.99 from its sale. They need to get real about over pricing this item..This is the standard 6-disc package just like CSI and others that paramount produces and so you know what you are getting..(*****) stars for the show(*) One star for the price!!

Hawaii Five-0: The Third Season

Better than Season 2
It's funny. Usually the 3rd season of a series is the messed up one. Not in this case. The thing that makes this series for me is the bonding between the four main characters. Catherine is fine (let's face it, the actress who plays Steve's love-interest in this season is much better than the one who played the blonde what's-her-name in season 2. Sorry, I know that's harsh, but it is the truth.) But, I agree with a lot of others, there's no chemistry really between Catherine and Steve. It's like she's put in there to pursue, yet again, another love interest for him. My question? Why? He's not the type of guy to settle down, so the prospect of marriage is moot. Keep it simple, Writers. Catherine is a great character if used at a distance like she was used in first season. Her smarts and training are powerful, but we don't need 'Wonder Woman'. Use her sparingly and she'll be fine. The original 4 characters (along with Max, I mean, yeah, the guy actually adds to the dynamic of the series...
ALOHA
LIVING IN HAWAII MAKES THIS SHOW EVEN MORE ENJOYABLE FOR ME. IT IS GREAT FUN TO SEE THE LOCAL SIGHTS. GREAT STORYLINES AND INTRIGUING SUBPLOTS. KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.
Awesome
I love Hawaii Five-O so much, when I realized the super bowl cut off the last 20 minutes of this episode, I spent 45 minutes looking for a free copy...with no luck, I decided to try the amazon episode and it took 30 seconds to load and begin watching...all I can say is if I ever need to get an episode that I missed...I'll be going straight to amazon for it...totally worth the $1.99 to see my favorite shows ending!!!

South Park: The Complete Sixteenth Season

90210: The Fifth Season

Goodbye 90210, you will be missed
I will miss 90210 so much! It was my favorite teen drama since it began in 2008 and until May of this year. This show was so dramatic, filled with sex and twists that I'll never forget. The cast worked so great together for five years, and I will miss looking forward every week for a new 90210 episode, but it was a great season overall. Obviously, this season doesn't feel like a final season, because the show was cancelled right before the season finale (now series finale) was supposed to be filmed, so if you haven't seen the last episode, don't expect anything big or fancy, but at least the writers found a way to give everybody a closure. The CW did a really bad decision, they will never find anything like 90210 ever.

This season gets closer to the characters' feelings, with Dixon's car accident, Silver trying to have a baby before gettng diagnosed with breast cancer, Naomi breaking up with Max (they were end game! I suffered when they split up), Annie's new writing career...
Best Show!!!
I chose a 5 because we love this show and we like how convenient Amazon makes it to have access to this show. If you watch the series from season one, 90210 gets very addicting.
Retro girl Loving the new 90210
Love it! Never thought I would like it. I grew up watching the original 90210. I love how the original characters are in the show!

Kindred: The Embraced - Complete Series (Includes Book of Nod)

Not Just A Reissue, A New Deluxe Set: With Only Eight Episodes, This Supernatural Saga Was Never Allowed To Truly Develop Teeth
The horror genre has had a spotty track record on television. Aside from anthology series that introduced a new tale of woe every week, most entries that dabbled in supernatural or monster themes were often more beloved than popular. I know it seems hard to imagine now with the revitalized interest in everything supernatural. Vampires, wolves, ghosts, zombies and other beasties rule the airwaves (although still mostly beyond network TV) on premium cable, CW, AMC, FX, and BBCAmerica among others. I think that's why we still remember the programs that defied conventional wisdom, that attempted something different in trying to tie an on-going mythology to the serialized drama. Sure daytime had "Dark Shadows," but for every "X-Files" or "Buffy" that turned into monster cult hits, there were many more that simply vanished without a trace. Even the show that absolutely set the standard in my opinion, "Kolchak" couldn't stay on the air for more than one season in 1974-75 despite a series of...
