Gravity Falls: Six Strange Tales

It would be better if....
I like that it will be including Journal #3 and a poster but still, NOT all episodes?! That was a stupid move Disney. People ARE SERIOUS about this show! ITS THE BEST ONE YOU HAVE TODAY! There are serious collectors that will want this mainly for the book. Please make a Season 1 with Journal #2 or something in the future or at least Season 1 all together.
Tell Disney you want a season set!
Now I love Gravity Falls and think it's one of, if not the, funniest cartoon on right now. If you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend you do. I gave this three stars to get people's attention and tell other fans of this show to tell Disney that you want a season set. The reason Adventure Time and Regular Show got season sets on both dvd and Blu-Ray is because fans told the people in charge they wanted it. However, I wouldn't boycott this dvd. Low sales could lead to them not releasing any more dvds at all. I also don't think doing this kind of release at all is a bad thing. Spongebob does both soccer mom dvds and season sets and they both must sell well, cause I don't think they would keep putting them out if they weren't. This type of release can appeal to not only casual fans, but fans that would like to have episodes on dvd right away, even if they later have to rebuy those same episodes on a season set. In fact, that's why I plan to buy this myself.
Update: According...
full season release!!!!!!!
This show is too awesome to not have the full first season released on dvd. Not a smart move disney.

Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year

Happy New Year, Pooh and Friends!
Actually, more like New Year's and Christmas, as that's what this DVD features.

The story begins with an opening segment in which Pooh Bear hides a present he has for Piglet. Then our friends gather together and tell little Roo about a past Christmas. This segment comes from the special "Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too," featuring the characters from "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh." Pooh and his friends are getting ready for Christmas. They decide to make a Christmas list and come up with all sorts of gifts that they want to give each other. But when the list is lost to the wind, Pooh and Piglet decide to dress up as Santa and a reindeer and make gifts.

Later, they recall a New Year's in which Rabbit wanted to move away because he was irritated Pooh's eating honey, Tigger's bouncing, Piglet's being afraid and Eeyore's gloominess. So they all made resolutions to change and swapped personalities.

One reason this production is neat is that it...
A very merry pooh year all year round.
This is an excellent christmas time story for all lovers of winnie pooh and friends, young and old alike! Its a story that can, and probably will be, watched again and again. There are two interactive games for younger children which should keep them occupied for an hour or two. My children aren't "fans" of winne pooh but have watched this over and over. good value for money!!
Good Holiday movie
A good Holiday movie with all the usual cast. I watched this movie this morning with my nephew to introduce him to the Holiday *this is his first* and I enjoyed it as much as he seemed to! My only small complaint is that when they go into different part's of the story (ie the new year celebration) it seemed a little arkward. Other then that, two thumbs up.

I hope that this will become a holiday tradition.

Monsters University (DVD)

Why the lessons in `Monsters University' are Pixar's most bold yet
SPOILERS BELOW. DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM.

If you don't care about the end being discussed, then by all means read on...

My wife and I saw Monsters University and both loved it. Many of the Top Critics on Rotten Tomatoes however, seemed to miss the point of the film entirely.

"This is a safe, predictable, edge-free, nearly bland effort from a studio that rarely hedges its bets." - Richard Roeper

"[It] conforms to [Pixar's] apparent drift toward the average, with toy sales taking priority over originality." - Liam Lacey

"Monsters University is cute, and funny, and the animation, though not exactly inspired, is certainly colorful." - Steven Rae

"Mostly memorable for being fine but forgettable." - Betsy Sharkey

Since 1995, Pixar has dominated computer animated filmmaking. They constantly win Academy Awards (9 nominations, 7 wins for Best Animated Feature) and are universally praised for their...
Pixar returns to its magical ways.
Dumb me! Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb me! All summer I put my faith and hope in the big blockbuster films, the Iron Man 3's and Star Treks of the world. And from Man of Steel to Pacific Rim almost without fail these over budgeted, underwritten explosiony action films left me feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. Except for World War Z there is not a single movie I've seen this summer that I can truly say was a great film. Some were better than others (Oblivion and Pacific Rim were both pretty good) but considering their competition was Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness that's not saying much. All the while I put off seeing Monsters U for weeks. "It looks silly" I said, "Pixar has lost its mojo" the idiot side of my brain insisted. Well, that sure teaches me. I will never doubt Pixar again. Even if they make another mediocre film like Brave, they have more than proven themselves still capable of making a damn good film.

Wall E will always be my favorite Pixar...
Even though It's A Prequel, "Monsters University" Continues to Surprise Us With Profound Insights
***This review may contain spoilers.***

Like "Monsters, Inc.", "Monsters University" (MU) won't win any recognition for its originality. Relating the tale of the first encounter between all-eye green cyclops Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and blue, hulking, bear-like James "Sully" Sullivan (John Goodman) at the titular institute of higher "scare" learning, MU cribs all over the place. As other posters have noticed, MU borrows fragments of other college-themed movies like "Animal House", the Harry Potter movie heptology (seven films), and even a smidgen of "Back to School". Most tellingly, however, MU is heavily in debt to "The Hunger Games", since the meets held to determine which monster fraternities will be eliminated from the prestigious "scare curriculum" and even from the university take up the bulk of the film. MU robustly and hilariously satirizes the aspects of college and frat life you would expect, but later reveals unexpected insights about the limits of...
