Pound Puppies: Holiday Hijinks

Great show
This new version of Pound Puppies (from The Hub Network and Hasbro Studios) is a great, extremely underrated show. The series has sharp humor, appealing characters, a terrific voice cast, and sweet, touching story-lines.

The series stars the voices of Eric McCormack, Yvette Nicole Brown, Michael Rapaport, John DiMaggio, Alanna Ubach, René Auberjonois, and M. Emmet Walsh.

According to the Shout Factory website, the episodes on this disc will be

"I Heard the Barks on Christmas Eve"
"I Never Barked for My Father"
"Barlow"
"Good, Dog McLeish!"
"The Prince and the Pupper"

(You will notice that the last episode, "The Prince and the Pupper", has very rough, rigid animation compared to the rest of the episodes on the disc. After the airing of it, the animation studio changed, and the series now has clean, fluid animation)

If you are a fan of this show, then you will definitely want to pre-order this DVD.

Power Rangers: Zeo, Vol. 1

zeo
zeo is a good season of power rangers but this is milking it half of zeo I am going to buy the season 4-7 box set so I have all of zeo at once
Milking the cow
Buy the box sets not the volumes. They are taking advantage of the fans and milking the money just like twilight.
Are volumes really necessary?
does it really need to be in volumes? why not just release the complete season by its self? i think Shout Factory is getting a little greedy. i already have plans to buy the 4-7 season pack, so there is no need for me to have this. 5 stars because its power rangers but im going to minus 2 stars cause we all know that the complete season can be put in one box set.

Power Rangers: Seasons Eight - Twelve

I love it! 20 years in the making!
I bought the two sets of Mighty Morphin box set and Seasons 4-7 together straight from Shout Factory and I love them but was wondering when they would release the rest. A few weeks ago I learned that there would be a complete series set of all 20 seasons (with extra slots for the 2 movies) in a Jason (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' Red Ranger) helmet. This left me very happy, sad and confused all at the same time. I was happy that there would finally be a complete set of every season starting 20 years ago at the original all the way to the latest season of Mega Force with an awesome helmet case for every single disc and even spaces for the two movies (which you can find just about anywhere for about $5 each now). I was very sad to see this because I spent over $200 already for almost half of the seasons and if I bought this, I would have 7 seasons of duplicate discs and wasted money. I was confused because I thought that they had completely forgotten about the season box sets and went...
Let's Keep This Party Going!!!
Holy smokes the next wave of Official Power Rangers DVD!!! I've purchased season 1-7 and could not be happier with Shout!'s production! Some worry about the quality of having 10 episodes on each disc, but it's really not that bad. I know the entire series (all 18 seasons) are available on Netflix but this is a FANTASTIC purchase for any PR fan or collector. Great quality, they took their time making these box sets.
Power Rangers at its best!
Im very pleased that these seasons of power rangers are finally coming together in this box set. This set is truly worth the price!

Tank Girl (Collector's Edition) [Bluray/DVD Combo] [Blu-ray]

Pure entertainment
Tank Girl is, make no mistake, a campy B sci-fi. It lives up to the genre perfectly, keeping a light, humorous tone in a world so dark that it would make most of us hide under the bed. It's probably no surprise that someone like Tank Girl would survive the apocalypse.
Lori Petty's character is perfectly witty, a girl who plays it large and in charge even when things are at their worst. She can kill an armed man and then answer the irritated stares of his buddies with "What?" While McDowell's character tries to break her in for a mission, she spends all her time coming up with lines to really get under his skin--and succeeds.
The complaints of some accusing McDowell of hamming up the role of the villain are unfounded; he not only plays the role perfectly, but does it so well that I don't think anyone else could have done it. He's playing the stereotypical megalomaniac bad guy, yes, but on top of that he adds a touch of class and intelligence. His repartee with Tank Girl...
Beautiful CULT favorite of mine.
I first saw this movie when i was 16 (now 21)... and i fell in love from the very beginning. I'd never call this "quality cinema," but it is thoroughly entertaining, and quickly became one of my favorite movies. The color is breath-taking, Lori Petty is absoltuely beautiful, sexy, funny, wonderful, etc. And this is just a kick-a#$% grrrl-power movie, without the corporate cheese that tends to come in the package. It is a fantasy world that i ventured to often as a teenager... and now with a DVD version, the journey can continue. ENJOY!
ULTIMATE chick flick....
Okay, I didn't just like this movie, I love, LOVE this movie. Yes, its campy, yes the plot line is bizarre, No I can't get a guy to watch it with me (but they won't watch Earth Girls are Easy either) but I just love this movies humor and girl power without being GI Jane.

Yeah, the Rippers (aka Kangaroo people) are a little scary, but they are genetically engineered kangaroo mutants who happen to be trying to find their creator. (I got over the Rippers scariness when Rebecca and Jet were high on helium and then doing that stupid dance.)

I think about this movie when I am down because most of the movie had me laughing my head off. But I guess this tells you about my personality because this movie isn't for everyone. Don't watch this movie expecting to learn anything or have a plot to follow. Just sit back, and enjoy the cartoons...and the fact that one of the main characters is a tank!

While I didn't know this was a comic first, I'm curious to see...

Crawlspace [Blu-ray]

slick, OTT low-budget horror
In every review I've seen of this movie (yes, all TWO of them), it's been compared to "Peeping Tom," which I haven't seen, so I'll be at a slight disadvantage while I review "Crawlspace." The plot has Klaus Kinski (the German actor you might remember from the 1979 remake of "Nosferatu")--looking like Beethoven playing Dracula--as a creepy landlord who only rents apartments out to beautiful women...then systematically kills them. It turns out his father was a Nazi scientist who experimented on Jews during World War II, and the genes begin to show after a pretty college student (Talia Balsam, daughter of Martin?) shows up at the complex.
"Crawlspace" is actually quite impressive given its low budget. Kinski--who obviously did this movie for the paycheck--is the central driving force, as his murdering, makeup-smearing, goose-stepping Nazi keeps things intensely interesting. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast is dense and undefined, and serve...
crawlspace has a creepy premise, but unfortunately lacks in the execution...
Klaus Kinski (1926-91) plays a demented landlord with perverted intentions in Crawlspace (1986), a creepy suspense thriller with ample potential that unfortunately, isn't quite fully realized. While not quite delivering in the scares and gore department, Kinski's performance makes for what is still an entertaining watch.

While working in a hospital in Argentina, physician Karl Gunther (Kinski) had many patients that mysteriously died. Evil runs in the family, as Gunther's father was executed as a war criminal, for his role in the torture of prisoners in Nazi concentration camps. Now the landlord of an apartment building in America, the demented Gunther keeps a woman prisoner in the attic, and also spies on his female tenants, by crawling through the ventilation ducts, and peeping into their rooms through the air register grill.

After Gunther eliminates a tenant who wanders where she should not have, college student Lori Bancroft (Talia Balsam) becomes the...
Awesome film, chairs will have new meaning for you ...
The other reviews have given away enough of this film.

Just watch it. Kinski has a malevolence that few can match, and he delivers in spades.

When he is finally noticed, the method he uses to despatch an investigator will likely make you check chairs forever after.

It's grotesque, escapist horror delivered by a skilled performer, and an absolutely brilliant villain of the screen.

Assault On Precinct 13 (Collector's Edition) [Bluray/DVD Combo][Blu-ray]

Intense, Nail Biting Action
One should not watch this movie expecting the highly choreographed gunfight ballets that John Woo initiated & every other action movie has followed ever sense. This movie preceded all of that. The plot focuses on a small group of police officers and convicts fighting off a relentless street gang in an all but abandoned precinct. There are two central heroes of this movie: Bishop, a Black Police Chief who is new to the job & looking for a little adventure at the beginning of the film (a superior officer asks him "Do you want to be a hero your first time out?" "Yes, Sir," Bishop replies); and there is Napolean Wilson, a White man on his way to death row when the prison bus he is riding is forced to make a detour (check out this plot twist: another prisoner starts coughing & wheezing, nearly passing out, and guess what, rather than pulling a shiv on the cop who examines him, it turns out the guy is really sick! How often does that happen in a movie?)...
A classic "B' thriller is given a digital face-lift for blu-ray... but is it done right?
The film itself is three-and-a-half stars out of five; taut, eerie, violent, suspenseful and (best of all) fun, this is a fine example of a lo-fi 1970's "B" suspense-action thriller. At it's core, "Assault On Precinct 13" is a 1970's "grindhouse" feature with characters and a premise straight out of Howard Hawks and John Ford westerns. This was "B" film master John Carpenter's second feature (after the ultra-low budget amateurish sci-fi spoof "Dark Star"), and his terrific skill with suspense and atmosphere really became evident with this film; his use of lighting, shadows and darkness in the film are textbook examples of how to make a "B" suspense flick on the cheap. The music, another classic (albeit corny) John Carpenter synth score, also contributes considerably to the film's "B" movie goodness.

On the other hand, his handling of action sequences are merely workmanlike and competent, and for all the great (and not so great) films Carpenter would later go on to direct,...
They really don't make 'em like this anymore
Before there was Halloween, there was Assault on Precinct 13, John Carpenter's second movie and arguably his first masterpiece. Fans of his later work should be warned though, there's no traditional horror or supernatural elements here, just one of history's all-time great low-budget action movies. By now the plot should be familiar to just about anyone reading this review: a lone cop and a couple of lifers have to defend a virtually abandoned police station against a street gang's onslaught. However, it's what Carpenter does with this concept that makes Assault on Precinct 13 such an exciting and memorable watch. It's a brilliantly executed pressure-cooker of a movie, thrusting a few decidedly disparate people into an unimaginably dire situation and letting us watch them as they try to figure out what to do about it. Although Carpenter has made much of the influence of classic westerns on this movie (Rio Bravo in particular), there are also ample doses of the eerie minimalism...

VR Troopers: Season Two, Vol. 2

We Need Support
Hey All

We Need Everyone Fans Support, like its said, Shout Factory has has stated "Due to poor sales of the previous volumes the VR Troopers Season 2, Volume 2 release announced for September has been cancelled." We forwarded this message to our contacts at Shout! Factory, who replied today with confirmation of the bad news: "Yes, the release has been cancelled. The Amazon page will be removed soon." In order to get this released I ask every fan to get these other volumes so they can get the last of this show out on DVD.

Thanks
V R Troopers
I wish Saban would have at least made a movie or movies of V R Troopers so that the show wouldn't have ended in what I call movie & tv heil , also known as a cliffhanger ; and by the way , Shout Factory better change their f.....g minds about canceling V R Troopers season 2 vol 2 because that's even worse than movie & tv heil / a cliffhanger , that's movie & tv pergatory .
Troopers one last Time.
Vr Troopers completes it release with the season two second and final volume, Vr Troopers was created by the same people that brought you power rangers. It's sad the show ended so soon and without a series finale to give it closure but at least I can enjoy the show all over again and at any time I want.

Scanners II: The New Order / Scanners III: The Takeover (BluRay/DVD Combo) [Blu-ray]

Telekinetic Horror Presented in Awesome Widescreen; Unfortunately, No Extras!
****No Plot Spoilers****

Ever since watching Brian De Palma's "Carrie" (Carrie) and "The Fury" (The Fury), I've been obsessed with telekinesis. The Scanners franchise also fulfilled my desire to watch people move objects with their thoughts. The original "Scanners" (Scanners) was directed by David Cronenberg who became famous for his controversial science fiction horror films starring controversial actors [e.g., "The Brood" (The Brood), with brawler hunk Oliver Reed, and "Rabid" (Rabid) with former porn star Marilyn Chambers]. "Scanners" focuses on an emotionally disturbed, homeless scanner, Cameron Vale (Stephen...
SCREAM FACTORY'S SCANNERS II & III
I'm a big fan of Scanners especially the original scanners film by David cronenberg which is a classic
but Scanners II is pretty Good and Scanners III is a bit ridiculous but still Good.
any fan of Scanners knows what scanners II & III are about, they're both similar to the original

Scanners II was released in 1990 but was a Direct to video release
i don't think it was shown in many cinemas, if it was shown in some Cinemas
then it would have been a short run
Scanners III was no different, it was released in Cinemas 1 year after Scanners II
again Direct to Video after a short run playing in some cinemas.
both Scanners II and III never got a U.S. DVD release ever
both Scanners films were only released on Anchor bay DVD in the U.K. back in 2003
so both scanners films have only been available in the U.K. on Anchor bay DVD.

Until now this year, scream factory who's part of shoutfactory in L.A. California
finally got...
VHS QUALITY ONLY!
These movies were fine when they came out in the early 90's. I already own these on VHS. I had this pre-ordered for a while. I started the Blu-ray disc and let me say the quality is not good, worst BD I have seen. Looks like they just took the VHS tapes copied them to Blu-ray and called them Blu-ray when there not. The introduction credits bounce up and down a little (was a tracking issue for VHS tapes). They only have 2-channel audio no 5.1 or 7.1. I hate to see what the DVD disc looks like since they have crammed 2 movies to one disc. I have seen DVD movies that have better quality than this. I know Shout Factory is a low budget studio but they could have done a way better job than this, especially when they are going to sell this as Blu-ray. I would not recommend these to anyone. To me if you have the VHS tapes don't waste your money on this set because you're going to get the same video & audio quality!

Day Of The Dead (Collector's Edition)

"The Darkest Day of Horror the World Has Ever Known"
The third--and possibly the final--entry in George Romero's DEAD series, 1985's DAY OF THE DEAD was initially panned by both critics and horror fans. Many complained that, in spite of the much improved special FX, the film did not live up to the creepiness and the literacy of the groundbreaking first film of the trilogy, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968), nor was its content equal to the offbeat humor and satirical subtext of the second film, DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978). Thus, it was simply written off as another exercise in shock value. But in the time that has passed since the initial release of DAY OF THE DEAD, many fans and critics alike have grown to regard the film as a worthy entry in the series, with many claiming it has become their favorite of the three.

DAY OF THE DEAD is a claustrophobic character study set almost entirely in a secured underground military bunker. The story picks up some months after the end of DAWN OF THE DEAD, with the earth now nearly overrun by the...
Horror fans should seriously consider watching this film
If you haven't see Day of the Dead and you're reading the viewer reviews of this film, it's presumably because you're either a zombie fan or you loved Night of the Living Dead and/or Dawn of the Dead. But you're not sure whether or not to watch this film because of the mixed reviews it received. My recommendation is that you should rent this film and watch it twice and if you liked the film buy the Anchor Bay remaster widescreen version.

The plot to Day of the Dead is simple. The world has been conquered by zombies, as seen in Day's predecessors. There are only 12 survivors left in Florida and they've taken refuge in an underground salt mine and silo. There's heated conflicts between the soldiers and the scientists and civilians and by the end, thousands of zombies pour into the silo and wreak graphic havoc.

Yes, Day of the Dead is extremely graphic and gory (It's probably the most violent and gory American horror film ever made) as most zombie films are. But this...
Mmmmm.....apocalicious!
A fine horror film in its own right, but it suffers in comparison to "Dawn of the Dead". Where "Dawn" thematically succeeds on its criticism of consumerism, it's hard to find where "Day" fits in the trilogy. And George Romero himself has stated that this was only a shadow of the original "dead" grand finale he envisioned. But the good news is that maybe we'll see a another sequel some day? It's time...the world needs another Zombie film!

But no matter...it's creepy, apocalyptic nightmare that probes a primal fear, i.e. being eaten. It's quite well-acted (in a yelling and screaming sort of way) in spite of its other shortcomings. Lori Cardille and Jarlath Conroy stand out; too bad they haven't done more film work (both are very active in indie/theater work). Josef Pilato has gone on to character roles, including Dean Martin in "Pulp Fiction".

One note regarding the special effects...they're *really* disturbing, especially Sarah's...

Psycho II (Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray]

A darn fine (and worthy) sequel
How can you top the original PSYCHO?

You can't.

But you can do it justice, and PSYCHO II accomplishes that. Its most important key to success, coming over 20 years after the first film, is the return of the same performers - Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, and the HOUSE. Using the same exact house/motel set lends this sequel incalculable credibility and continuity. Without it, the movie probably would have been "just another sequel."

Perkins is simply outstanding as Norman (gotta love the way he says "cu- u- utlery") and Meg Tilly and Robert Loggia are nicely cast in their roles. The plot has a nice handful of twists throughout, and a whopper of an afterthought ending. Jerry Goldsmith provides a fine score, wisely avoiding the temptation to mimic Herrmann's original.

The DVD presentation is full-frame, but DON'T let that stop you from buying it. The film is open-matte, which means a widescreen version would simply MASK the top and bottom. In other...
As good as sequels get.
The original "Psycho," a classic in the great tradition of Hitckcock's many films, brought so much to the world of movies that it was hard to imagine that any sequel to a movie as stupendous as this would be any good. Sequels, especially those of the horror genre, tend to be very trite and uninvolving, which is why, after watching "Psycho II," I was in a state of shock over how good it actually was. Of course, it's not Hitchcock, and will never live up to the caliber of the first film, but for what it's worth, it gets its formula right and keeps it right.

The movie picks up many years later, after the horrific murders at the Bates Motel, and Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) has just been released back into the world despite harsh protest from Lila Crane (Vera Miles), the sister who stopped at nothing to find her sister, Bates's shower victim. He returns to the motel, a drug-ridden sex house run by a sleazy man, and to his home, the place where his mental problems...
The "Mother" of all sequels (heh, heh)
Finally, I can use my Goodtimes DVD of Psycho 2 for a coaster! A belated thanks to Universal for finally giving this superior sequel a decent DVD release.

As for the film itself, it's certainly one of the best sequels ever made. It's 22 years later, and Norman Bates is judged restored to sanity. He takes back his roadside motel from a sleazy manager (a pre-NYPD BLUE Dennis Franz), and takes in a seemingly innocent waitress (Meg Tilly). But even though Norman has put his past behind him, he starts getting notes from "Mother." And someone (Norman?) is dressing up like Mrs. Bates and soon the Bates Motel is back in business, 1960-style.

There are a few surprises--although the identity of the murderer is fairly obvious long before it's revealed. Director Richard Franklin even throws in an admirable Hitchcock cameo! The pacing is deliberate and slow by today's standards, but the performances should hold your attention. Anthony Perkins deserves special mention...

A Great Collection!
This was a great collection of slugtastic episodes that any fan of Slugterra will love! My favorite on this DVD has to be Mario Bravado, but all were fun and continued the great Slugterra action that I have seen in other episodes. This DVD also has some great bonus features (2) and for me my favorite was the behind the scenes look. All-in-all if you are already a fan you will love this collection and if this is your first introduction, get ready for an action packed ride!

Kaijudo: Rise Of The Duel Masters: Darkness Of Heart

Great artwork and a fun story
I had never heard of this series before so I was intrigued to see what it was all about. First off I will say that I enjoyed the artwork in the series. The cartoonists did a great job and captured great action and characterization through the episodes. Second, the plot of the episodes was engaging and action packed. My favorite episode personally was The Taken, but you get five in this DVD which include:

Shaw K'Naw
The Taken
Duel Hard
Heart of Darkness
Darkness of Heart

On top of the two items mentioned above, I also thought that they did a great job at creating Choten, the nemesis in this series. Talk about scary looking - I know I would not want to run into him anytime soon!

All-in-all this was a great series and I will be looking for further episodes to watch in the future!

Psycho III (Collector's Edition)

Highly Entertaining Sequel!
Picking up where Psycho 2 left off, Norman Bates is a free man living in his old home behind the Bates Motel, his new stuffed mother his only roommate. He lives a quiet life managing the less than successful business, spending most of his time practicing taxidermy on the local birds that eat from his poisoned feeder. But things get all shook up again when Maureen Coyle, a young, runaway nun, enters his world. Maureen's short, blonde hair reminds Norman far too much of his most unforgettable victim, Marion Crane, causing a myriad of conflicting feelings to well up within him. But Norman is not the only one who is disturbed and confused. Maureen has left the Church because she has so lost her faith that she recently attempted suicide and caused the death of a fellow nun who attempted to stop her. With her feelings of hopelessness and guilt, Maureen still hasn't given up on the idea of taking her own life. And Maureen is not Norman's only problem. Duane Duke, a pretty boy, would-be...
A comment on the DVD
I just thought I would shed some light on the quality of the DVD disc technically speaking. Out of the entire presentation I was extremely surprised by the quality of the audio. The Dolby Surround track is well used, mostly by Carter Burwells unique score. All the speakers are used occasionally adding to the dark mood that some of the scenes convey. The sound is always clear and noise free. The dialogue driven scenes stay close to the center channel and move only from time to time. The video print seems to have aged well and doesn't show any large amount of dust or scratches. Colors are saturated very naturally and there doesn't appear to be any distracting pixelation. Some of the titles do appear to slightly shimmer, but it looks as if it was just the old fashioned techique used to make them. The letterboxed picture feels wider than the 1.85 ratio stated on the case, but only slightly. Overall a very nice DVD by itself. The added theatrical trailer does feel dated, both in...
Underrated sequel deserves another look
It's about time Universal got around to releasing a decent disc of Psycho 3. The film, directed by star Anthony Perkins and released theatrically in 1986, has widely been regarded as a marked decline in quality for the Psycho series. And I admit, I once regarded it the same way. Unlike the relatively tame Psycho 2, the third film in the series ups the sex & violence level considerably. This was probably a conscious attempt to compete with films of its time...remember, "splatter" films were big in the mid-80's.

But, like Hithcock's original masterpiece, there's more going on here than meets the eye. Perkins the Director appears to have studied not only Hitchcock (the opening scene is straight out of VERTIGO), but other contemporary filmmakers like John Carpenter and Dario Argento. Psycho 3 is almost equal parts fright film and black comedy...a combination that certainly describes many of Hitchcock's most successful films.

Though hardly a perfect film, Psycho...

Power Rangers: Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers

Alien Rangers
I'm going to assume that this is simply a repackaging of the Alien Rangers disc from the Mighty Morphin' Box set, dubbed "Season 3.5" and this will be a singular disc with the following episodes:

Alien Rangers of Aquitar Pt. 1 (146)
Alien Rangers of Aquitar Pt. 2 (147)
"Climb Every Fountain" (148)
"The Alien Trap" (149)
"Attack of the 60' Bulk" (150)
"Water You Thinking?" (151)
"Along Came a Spider" (152)
"Sowing the Seas of Evil" (153)
Hogday Afternoon Pt. 1 (154)
Hogday Afternoon Pt. 2 (155)
ALIEN RANGERS
For those who already own The Complete Series already have it. It is actually a better buy you get a two disc Bonus Features that is only available on The Complete Series of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. If u can wait Til September good for u. BUT I THINK BUYING THE COMPLETE SERIES BOX SET IS A MUCH BETTER PURCHASE.
Sucks
This is a waste of money and full of crap. Just buy the box sets. That way you will get your money worth.

Prince Of Darkness (Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray]

Underrated Masterpiece!
An ancient evil has awakened, and it is in liquid form! Father Loomis (Donald Pleasance) receives a key from another, now deceased, priest, and with this key opens himself up to a whole new realm of knowledge that the Roman Catholic church has kept secret for quite some time now. Father Loomis enlists the aid of a brilliant physicist, Prof. Howard Birack (Victor Wong), and some of his graduate students to help him unravel this archaic mystery. Without knowing exactly what they are getting themselves into, several experts in the fields of chemistry, biology, and ancient texts set out to investigate the undisclosed enigma.

Deep within the sanctuary of a run down church lies a dirty little secret few know about. The Prince of Darkness, son of the devil himself, is being held captive in liquid form, and is guarded by only a few lucky priests and nuns. However, the time has come for the Prince to awaken and bring forth his father to wreak havoc. As the Prince, and thus his father,...
Scary as Hell
One of John Carpenter's last truly great movies, made before he lost his touch and began cranking out dreck like "In the Mouth of Madness" and "Vampires."

Not surprisingly this film tanked at the box office when released way back in 1987. It's script, a heady mix of quantum physics, religious doctrine, and questions about the origins of Christ and Satan, challenges everything viewers think they know about God, the Devil, and Man. But true horror film fans will appreciate it's intelligent script about Satan's return to earth and his attempts to bring along something even worse than him.

What could possibly be worse than Satan? Buy the movie and find out. You won't be dissappointed.

At its core, "Prince" is an old-fashioned horror film. A group of people, in this case, college grad students, their professor, and an emotionally shattered priest, are trapped in an old spooky place(a church) with something horrible. But the script's deft...
Q: Is Evil Animal, Vegetable, or Mineral? A: Liquid!
John Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness" is vintage Carpenter and one of the Master's greatest and most underrated outings, serving up a masterfully ghoulish, take-no-prisoners, heavy on the red sauce and liquefied pure green Evil little howler of a horror movie.

Consider "Prince of Darkness" as a fine Carpenterian wine (a merlot, of course---a deep *red* merlot), well aged---after all, 1987 was a good year, and this film is a fine vintage. The bouquet? Rich and heady, a fine distillation of "Assault on Precinct 13" and "The Thing." With that in mind, let's pop the cork on "Prince of Darkness".

When the last, venerable priest of an ancient and mysterious Catholic order dies, Father Loomis (played with aplomb by the great Donald Pleasence---possibly playing the brother of Mike Myer's shrink?), sent to gather the priest's effects and secure his crumbling parish church, discovers something green, liquid and nasty bottled up in the church basement, and it's not detergent.

Littlest Petshop Petacular Escapades is a super cute dvd with lots of cute and short episodes on it. Each episode is about 20 minutes long which is perfect for most kids and parents. Each of the episodes was just as cute as the next but one thing is for sure, they are full of exciting adventures for both the pets and Blythe.

2. Dumb Dumbwaiter - Some of the pets get trapped in a dumbwaiter while the others try to rescue them.
3. Lights, Camera, Mongoose - The pets visit with a famous movie star mongoose.
4. What Did You Say? - Blythe gets sick and can't understand the pets anymore.
5. Terriers & Tiaras - Bad behavior at a pet pageant show.

One of the best lessons in my opinion is that no matter what to always be yourself and not envy another person. Each of us has our own blessings, but sometimes we get wrapped up in what it would be...
All of my kids enjoyed it
All of my kids, including my son enjoyed this five episode DVD collection. While my kids are too young to understand crushes and how embarrassing parents can be to teenagers, they still enjoyed the silly slapstick humor. The first episode focuses on Sunil's psychic abilities to help Blythe reunite with her crush to give him his keys back. The rest of the episodes were harmless and taught lessons like being yourself and not envying another's person's life/blessings over your own.

The Amityville Horror Trilogy [Blu-ray]

third movie is in 3d.
THis is the first time I have ever done a review on a item that isn't out yet. But I must back up the other person and confirm that in fact the third movie is in 3d. I emailed shout factory to point out that the box doesn't say this. And I suggested some other titles to put out in the 3d format. Universal also can be emailed about films like jaws 3d, the glass web, taza, and it came from outer space. If you love 3d movies then please go to their contact universal page and ask for those 3d movies. As for these films, I thought all three of them were pretty good. A lot better than the awful remake. There were several other amytiville movies that were made straight to video release as well. But these three were the big studio releases. SO it's a good thing to get them. And the last one is indeed in 3d and 2d. Why shout factory did not put this on the box is beyond me! , And it's causing problems already.
"The Amityville Horror" Trilogy Box Set Takes Us Back to the Most Famous Haunted House
Scream Factory gives the most famous haunted house in America its due with the release of "The Amityville Horror" Trilogy box set. The collection includes "The Amityville Horror," "Amityville II: The Possession," and "Amityville 3-D." It also marks the first time the two sequels have been available on Blu-ray and in 3-D.

Everybody knows about the legend of the Amityville House at 112 Ocean Avenue in Long Island, New York. A family moves into the house and the older son murders them all in their sleep. When he's apprehended, he tells the authorities a voice told him to do it. Another family moves in a year later and they're plagued with paranormal incidences. Things get so bad, they abandon the house and never return.

Whether or not you believe the stories are true, the "Amityville" films do provide good times for horror fans. Some want to revisit their childhood fears. Others want the opportunity to share the experience with their children for the first time and...
Blu-ray 3D Exposes Limitations of ArriVision 3D.
The Amityville Horror is a classic story about a family experiencing problems after moving into a haunted house. The Amityville Horror craze was an unexpected and terrifying phenomenon in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The slasher hadn't exploded yet when this film scored huge at the box office. Supernatural horror had ten good years already but everyone who saw Amityville Horror was blown away. The lead actor, James Brolin, couldn't find work for 2 years after appearing in this film despite being an accomplished actor! To this day I'm not sure I understand what happened and why with the ten film franchise (the eleventh installment has just been completed). Friday the 13th established the slasher for the 1980s the year after and the rest is history. My personal favorite is Amityville II. The Possession features Burt Young (Rocky) who just slaps you around right away and it's full-blown possession time 20 minutes into it. Good performances, great make-up, great effects, good plot and...

The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec [Director's Cut] (BluRay/DVD/Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

Not a Hollywood Film!
Thank heavens, and it doesn't suffer from the predictability and cliches of Hollywood that almost every movie from that town does nowadays. One never knows where The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec will end up next, and that's half of the fun. Pterydactyls, mummies, and raising from the dead have never been as fun, or as fashionable. Louise Bourgois, as Adele, is wonderful. And for those of you, like myself, who don't speak French, the English dubbing is well voiced (although not necessarily always well synchronized). It's nothing more than a silly, fun romp, but it is a very good silly fun romp.
Wait for the Director's Cut
This movie is very fun, but unfortunately Shout! Factory has decided to release a censored version that removes the briefest of nudity scenes from the movie. A scene actually shown in the theaters. What's worse is they're releasing a "Director's Cut" version in just a few months. That's a rather poor decision considering this version was not advertised as being censored and people who bought it had no idea of a Director's Cut coming out in October.

So before you say this review wasn't helpful because I gave it 1-star, I'm giving 1 star solely for the release and not for the movie. Shout! is being greedy and trying to get people to buy it twice. If you support that then go ahead and say I'm not helpful.

I hope others who read this also post similar reviews so that they realize they can't treat their customers like this.
Its good to see Luc Besson back as director in top form!
This Indiana-joneseque movie is a well produced, directed, acted and shot crowd pleaser. The cinematography is by THierry Arbogast, whose filmography includes The 5th Element. This was a $40m production (very high by European standards) so the set pieces and props are fantastic. Its very funny in many places, and some of the action is spectacular. Its appropriate for kids above 10 I would say. This DVD is excellent also. It comes in a slipcase, and the DVD is of high quality. It gives you both the French and English language versions. I watched it in French with English subtitles with the wife, then watched it again in English with my son.
