Prometheus Trap

Decent plot. Not affiliated with "Alien"
This is not the Alien prequel, Prometheus. That is a different movie by a similar name. Don't read reviews if you don't want to know the movie details.

The cover art certainly made no sense for this film. No aliens or battle droids. This is a "Groundhog day" type of plot in space where a sleeping crew is diverted to investigate a missing space ship to retrieve a mass destruction time weapon intended to wipe out a planet from time... namely earth (based on what I gathered from the female engineers motive).

The main problem with this movie is the poor audio quality. It is difficult to determine what is being said by anyone or anything. Lacking subtitles or closed captioning, there is no way to supplement the inability to hear the muddy dialogue.

It is also difficult to realize some crew are not human until the second android is found. It is nearly impossible to discern the physical location of the characters with the fog machines & odd camera angles...

Magic Puppy

CAUTION...This is "HALLOWEEN PUPPY" that was released Oct. 2012.
Caution...this movie was also released Oct 2012 as "HALLOWEEN PUPPY." If you have already seen that movie, you've seen this one! The box art is different, but it's the same movie...check out the plot summary.

Here's the Amazon review from HALLOWEEN PUPPY:
-Editorial Reviews
Horror movie buff ADAM WILDER's favorite holiday is Halloween, but this year promises to be different from usual when his best friend MOLLY (who'd like to be something more than that) accidentally turns his mom LINDA's boyfriend TED into a puppy when she attempts to cast a spell....

Ruby Gloom: Grounded in Gloomsville

At Long Last!
(copy/pasted from my reviews on the other releases, with an updated episode list)

For those few of us in the US who already know about this adorable little Canadian cartoon, seeing this and the other five DVDs that were just released this week is great news! This marks the first time Ruby Gloom has ever been available in the US, and collectively, these six releases give us more than double the number of total episodes released on the two existing Canadian sets.

For those of you out there who haven't yet met Ruby Gloom, the product description describes her and her cartoon
pretty much perfectly: "In a Victorian mansion on the outskirts of Gloomsville lives Ruby Gloom. Ruby's perfect day is a gloomy one, full of creativity and adventure with her offbeat circle of friends." Ruby is the quintessential "Perky Goth" girl; that is, her skin is ghastly white and she wears a black dress with yellow-and-red striped stockings and all of her friends are cyclopses and...
I even put off restocking my first aid kits to watch it...
I never actually saw this series when it was shown in the UK, but I rarely watch TV these days. It was actually a chance viewing of an episode on YouTube that got me interested in this series, and I haven't regretted anything yet. Well, that's not totally true, but I'll explain.

Ruby Gloom started as a line of greetings goods or something like that which was eventually turned into this series of animations by Nelvana of Canada. Ruby is a kind hearted, somewhat sensible type living in an old mansion in a town called Gloomsville surrounded by various weird characters for whom she often acts as their sanity anchor. Examples include Iris, the thrill seeking cyclops girl for whom enough is never enough; Misery, a girl that you might think is the most unlucky, morose, accident prone person in the world until you discover a dry wit and a warm heart; Skull Boy, a skeleton that is always in search of his true identity and Scaredy Bat, a bat that lives up to his name in every...
Pleasantly Surprised.
I had never even heard of Ruby Gloom before. I found it in a Walmart in the Halloween section. I thought my wife, who also likes Emily Strange, would like this; and since it was only 5 dollars I decided to chance it. My wife loved it, I loved it and so does our 6 year old son. Of course, I'm going to buy some more. If you like movies like Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Edgar and Ellen you will most likely like Ruby Gloom too.

Madonna: Goddess of Pop

the queen of pop
Really good bio on one of our most popular performers of our time. Good updated stuff on her recent years and inside her children's lives.
Part of Madonna's Life Revealed
"Madonna: Goddess of Pop" features a condensed biographical commentary on Madonna. The men and women interviewed to tell Madonna's story explains different facets of her story in a balanced way. For instance, the documentary shares that the death of Madonna's biological mother impacted her in a big way. I also like that snippets of her musical accomplishments were covered, along with candid details on how they intersected with her personal life. However, there were two caveats that I had with this documentary. The first is that it does appear that the men and women did the best that they could in sharing Madonna's story in both an entertaining and informative light. However, a future documentary could be made stronger by at least having one of the commenters of the documentary interviewing Madonna herself. Additionally, in all fairness, the documentary did at least cover the psychological heat and public judgement that Madonna took for opening up her heart to adopt David and Mercy...
Meh
I found some of this interesting. It did mention a lot of her more recent work. It lost credibility when the narrator mentions Madonna's "Blind Ambition Tour." Not awful, but I wouldn't pay to see it.
